- Gilbert & Sullivan Society
Early in 1952, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston was formed by a very small group of G&S aficionados. Initially, they performed only for friends and family, wearing signs to identify their characters. The house was an un-airconditioned gymnasium. Late in August that year, the Society presented The Gondoliers as its first public offering in the Cullen Auditorium on the University of Houston campus.
